Take a Tour at This St. Louis Printing Company

Home Printing in St. Louis

A home business can have many advantages and can be a promising way to be able to work and be able to make your own schedule. Many home business opportunities do not live to their hype or fail in the first year. You should always do your homework before deciding on any home business to make sure that you make money and don't lose it. This article can help you find the right business for you.

Using paper distribution methods. While many home business owners think they are a waste of time, others swear that fliers, brochures, and postcards work wonders for them. Figure out which one would be best for your home business, and find an online printing service. These businesses only charge small fees for a large amount of printing.

Postcards are an excellent way to spread the word without using a ton of materials. You can bring colored card stock to printing stores with your design. Most printing stores have discounts you can take advantage of, so be sure to look out for coupons before you depart. Postcards are a unique and memorable way to advertise.

What kind of used books sell at a good price on the internet? Books that had a small printing, books that go in and out of print often, books that are out of print and in demand. While out of print, the price will soar. Theology books are one type where this is true.

Have a large amount of fliers or brochures made up to promote your new venture. There are many stores that offer volume copying and printing for reasonable sums, usually under 40 dollars. Paste your new fliers up around town and send out a mailing to people in your area to get the word out about your business.

Make a budget for everything within your home based business. Know exactly how much you can spend on each portion of your budget, and stay well within it. You do not want to find yourself overspending on printing in St. Louis and advertisements, when what you really need are more office supplies in the business.

Print up return address labels. Having a supply of ready made return labels just makes good business sense! It saves you time and frustration. You already have to worry about making a label for the intended recipient but why compound those worries with labels that could already be printed and waiting in your drawer?

Your business can really stand out as professional if you print your own brochures, fliers, coupons and/or other materials. This may definitely cost a little bit of money and possibly even a good deal of time, but it's worth it just to brand your business as legitimate and professional. Obviously, any sales you get are the icing on the cake.

Create a logo for your home business and use it across all types of media. Do this for your website, print ads and store sign. This will help to establish brand recognition for your company.

Offer a free product or other item on your website for every visitor. This can be a printable item for visitors to print directly from your website, such as a party invitation or children's game. You can also find an affiliate product that has no charge for the visitor but earns you an affiliate commission for each referral.

Don't forget to get business cards. In addition to your business name, address, and phone number, make sure to add your website address and business email. Vista Print is one business that offers your first order of business cards free-of-charge. Always carry them with you, and hand them out liberally.

As you can see, there are a lot of options for home businesses. They can be a lucrative opportunity to make money and have control over how much you work and how often. By weeding out the options that are not a good fit to your skills or your lifestyle, you can increase your chances of success and satisfaction with your own home business.

Where Did Printing Come From & Woodblocking!

For all of you out there who are wondering where exactly printing came from, we have the answer for you! We all know that Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press, and he was truly the revolutionist behind the advancement in printing technology. But, what was printing before Gutenberg's machine?

Printing was once a very grueling process. Techniques such as woodblocking made printing a full-time manual labor position. From the early 200's until Gutenberg, printing was composed of very basic techniques that meant transferring ink (or whatever solutions used at the time) to textile, papyrus or any other form of printable material.

Skilled printers were capable of producing 2,000 sheets per day during the 9th Century AD! Unbelievable. Imagine if that were the case today! There would be no shortage in jobs that's for sure!

Woodblock printing is a technique practiced in order to effectively print text, patterns and images that were commonplace in Eastern Asia. Originally crafted in China, woodblocking was a method for printing on textiles and eventually on paper.

What Can Digital Printing Do For Your Business?

Simply put, the advances and evolution in modern digital printing provides a diverse mix of products and solutions for the forward-thinking business.  From signs, banners, and advertising to presentations, brochures, and flyers- digital printing provides high-quality, eye-catching collateral at prices previous unheard of.  We've discussed many of the key advantages in technology previously, but for today I want to focus primarily on the convenience and flexibility offered with the current products.  I'm sure at one time or another, many businesses have found their backs against the wall- forced to make emergency changes at the 11th hour when Murphy's Law rears its ugly head.  Perhaps the printers are down at the office..  Maybe your former printing company is closed for the night..  the chances of getting the amended project finished in time slowly go from slim to none.  In past years; that key account, the big presentation, the important visual aides may all be lost for good- but that no longer has to be the case.

Many digital printing establishments now offer 24/7 online submissions, easily uploading the information from any computer into the company's online database.  You can choose from a variety of products and designs, ensuring the material your business worked so hard to create is finished to your exact specifications.  In addition to the monetary savings compared to 'expedited/rush orders' in the past, many projects can be completed with less than a 24-hour turnaround time!  Suddenly, all that may have seemed hopeless can be salvaged.  The new technologies, combined with knowledgeable companies at the helm, are true assets to help your business grow.

Printing in the Web 2.0 Age

Some say print advertising is dead.

Newspapers are merging and losing circulation annually.  Magazines are depleting, with existing magazine issues losing circulation annually.  All the news media seems to shift their focus online.  Social media is growing millions of users annually.  Even retail advertising is diminishing in newspapers, as they are focusing their efforts to post online.

Print advertising is dying, but it’s not dead.  I don’t believe it for one second.

On the contrary, print advertising has never been more advanced or more innovative.

For one thing, digital printing has been growing in popularity and technological innovation every year.  Digital printing is a printing process that prints anything from a computer with any and all colors, on demand, on a particular paper size.  No printing plates needed!  Digital printing is mainstream - you may have an inkjet or laser printer at home, but digital printers that businesses use have been growing in numbers and innovation.  The printers are larger and can handle more paper with less ink.  Printing can be rapid-fire fast or printing at a slower, steady pace that produces colors that are works of art.

I mentioned earlier that digital printing does not use printing plates.  Printing plates - each plate being one color of the design - would have to be individually created.  All the inks would work together with each printed plate to create one multi-colored image.  It’s very common in screen printing, where a squid-like machine has outward “tentacles,” each one being a design specified for one color ink.  To produce a poster that used to require screen printing, all the colors can now be printed at the same time in one process.

Thanks to the innovations from digital printing, direct mail advertising has been growing annually, and has been using the popular digital printing processes to reduce costs.  Digital printing would also speed up the processes necessary to print, meaning the communications messages are more accurate and are delivered much quicker now than 20 years ago.

What other medium of communications shows up right to your door every single day?  Other than interpersonal communication, what other form of communication knows you?  Companies can send bulk mail printing to specified households that have specified interests in mind.  No two communities that receive bulk mail receive the same exact bulk mail, as each town block can have its own set of mail with the intention of targeted advertising.

Print advertising, in our blogging, social media Web 2.0 age, is in fact more essential than ever.  Creating print communications for potential clients gives them a physical, tangible object that stays with them for a longer period of time.  Online advertising is usually ignored & clicked away.  Print advertising is a tangible piece of paper held & touched by the individual, who can see the message with their very own eyes, and then either hold or dispose of the print advertising.  In other words, print advertising provides a longer period of initial exposure and repeated impressions than online advertising.

So when you’re deciding how to express your communications messages from your business to the public, don’t count out print advertising as part of your marketing budget.  Its versatility, evolving innovation, and pin-point accurate target marketing can deliver your messages to your desired audience more effectively than advertising online.
